It has been over a decade since I am Legend, but I am Legend 2 is coming. Time waits for no man even in a post-apocalyptic world of pain!
After signing a multi-year deal with Warner Bros, “I Am Legend” writer Avika Goldsman confirmed that “I Am Legend 2” is in the works.
The first film grossed $585 million worldwide, and it was actually from a book, from 1954, by Richard Matheson.
The film stars Smith in the lead role as virologist Robert Neville, a survivor of a man-made plague who works to find a cure.
I am Legend 2
The makers are being very tight lipped about the plot of the new film, but we have some information for fans desperate for the sequel.
Will Smith will return as Robert Neville alongside Michael B. Jordan.
However, we don’t know what Jordan’s role will be, friend or foe we just don’t know.
Both Smith and Jordan will serve as producers of “I Am Legend 2,” so one would hope they are mates off screen!
The Last of Us
The TV and video game The Last of Us influenced Akiva Goldsman to begin writing the new film, reports Variety.
“I’m obsessed with ‘The Last of Us,’ where we see the world just post-apocalypse but also after a 20-30-year lapse,” said Goldsman. “
You see how the earth reclaims the world, and there’s something beautiful in the question of, as a man steps away from being the primary tenant, what happens?
“That will be especially visual in New York. I don’t know if they’ll climb up to the Empire State Building, but the possibilities are endless.”
