You People, the new romantic comedy from Kenya Barris starring Eddie Murphy, Jonah Hill, Nia Long, and Lauren London, received its first teaser via Netflix backy.
A few weeks later, the official trailer came:
The movie, which Barris and Hill co-wrote and produced, centres on a young couple named Ezra Cohen and Amira Mohammed (Hill and London, respectively), who meet after he inadvertently enters her car. Despite their initial amazement at his invitation for a date, they quickly become friends and explore developing a more serious relationship.
But in order to do that, they’ll have to navigate the conflicting cultural norms, societal expectations, and generational differences in their families, which include Cohen’s “progressive and semi-woke Jewish parents (Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny)” and “Amira’s unyielding yet concerned Muslim parents,” played by Murphy and Long.
The film also stars Sam Jay, Elliott Gould, Travis Bennett, Molly Gordon, Rhea Perlman, Deon Cole, Andrea Savage, Mike Epps, Emily Arlook, Alani La La Anthony and Bryan Greenberg.
You People arrives on Netflix on Jan. 27, 2023.
