A star-studded ensemble, including Bill Hader, Quinta Brunson, Bowen Yang, Xochitl Gomez, Matt Berry, and Paula Pell, is set to lend their voices to the upcoming animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ beloved classic, “The Cat in the Hat.”
Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, in partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, officially announced the casting for the animated feature on Monday. Hader, known for his roles in “Barry” and “SNL,” will lead the vocal cast as the titular mischievous feline.
Scheduled for release on March 6, 2026, the animated remake aims to rejuvenate the legacy of Dr. Seuss’ iconic tale after a mixed reception to its previous live-action adaptation in 2003, starring Mike Myers.
Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja will write and direct the film, with Daniela Mazzucato and Jared Stern serving as producers. The storyline follows the adventures of The Cat as he brings joy and chaos into the lives of two siblings adjusting to a new town.
“We are overjoyed to partner with our friends at Dr. Seuss to take audiences of all ages on an adventure into the beloved world of ‘The Cat in the Hat,'” expressed Bill Damaschke, president of Warner Bros. Pictures Animation.
With high expectations for the project, Warner Bros. Pictures Animation announced “The Cat in the Hat” as the flagship feature among a slate of animated projects developed in collaboration with Dr. Seuss Enterprises. Previous collaborations between the author’s estate and Illumination include adaptations of “The Lorax” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”
Susan Brandt, president and CEO of Dr. Seuss Enterprises, and Bill Hader will serve as executive producers for the film. DNEG Animation has been enlisted as the animation studio partner.
“We are excited to see such an exceptional group of talent join the effort to bring this iconic property to the screen as an animated feature,” remarked Susan Brandt. “It’s been an amazing experience collaborating with the team from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation so far, as they truly understand what it takes to capture the magic of ‘The Cat in the Hat’ and share his brand of imagination and joy with a new generation of Dr. Seuss fans.”
