First Look at Toy Story 5’s New Villains
One of the most highly anticipated reveals is a first look at Pixar’s Toy Story 5, shared by the Disney-focused account Almanaque Disney. The new images reveal an army of Buzz Lightyear dolls, which are set to play the role of the film’s antagonists. This malfunctioning Buzz Lightyear army is expected to add an intriguing twist to the beloved series.
Familiar Cast Set to Return
In Toy Story 5, fans will be reunited with their favourite toys, as Pixar has confirmed that Tim Allen will reprise his role as Buzz Lightyear, including his sinister doppelgängers. Tom Hanks is also expected to return as Woody, making for an exciting reunion following the emotional conclusion of Toy Story 4 in 2019.
The Legacy of Toy Story
Directed by Andrew Stanton, Toy Story 5 is set to premiere on 19 June 2026. With a total franchise budget of $720 million, the Toy Story series has grossed over $3.3 billion worldwide, becoming the 20th highest-grossing film franchise globally and the third highest-grossing animated franchise. Each film has set box office records, with Toy Story 3 and Toy Story 4 ranking among the top 50 films of all time.
Concept Art Teases New Threats
During the D23 Brasil showcase, Pixar unveiled concept art for Toy Story 5, showing Buzz Lightyear dolls breaking free from their packaging outside an abandoned shipping container. The eerie image hints at a new, technology-driven challenge for Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang, as they face a world increasingly distracted by modern gadgets.
