In a recent teaser, Disney+ has announced the premiere date for its highly anticipated film, “Descendants: The Rise of Red.” Scheduled to debut on July 12, the film introduces viewers to a new generation of characters within the enchanted world of Auradon Prep.
Starring Kylie Cantrall as the rebellious Red, daughter of the notorious Queen of Hearts played by Rita Ora, the movie follows her journey as she navigates her way through the prestigious Auradon Prep. However, tensions escalate when her mother incites a coup against the school, prompting Red to team up with Chloe, portrayed by Malia Baker, to rewrite history and alter her mother’s villainous trajectory.
The teaser showcases Red’s rebellious nature as she leaves her mark on the school halls with graffiti hearts, capturing the attention of Chloe, who discovers that Red is her new roommate.
Alongside Cantrall, Baker, and Ora, the star-studded cast includes Brandy as Cinderella, Dara Reneé as Uliana, and Ruby Rose Turner as a young Queen of Hearts. The film promises an array of original songs, reprises, and a cover of “So This Is Love” from “Cinderella,” with a soundtrack album set to release concurrently with the film.
Directed by Jennifer Phang and written by Dan Frey and Russell Sommer, “Descendants: The Rise of Red” is produced by Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh. Ashley Wallen handles choreography, while Torin Borrowdale provides the score. Mark Hofeling leads the production design, with Declan Quinn as director of photography and Katie Ennis as the editor.
