Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, the seventh instalment in the Jurassic franchise is set five years after Jurassic World Dominion and promises thrilling new adventures.
A New Era for Jurassic World
The plot follows Zora Bennett, played by Johansson, as she leads a team of operatives tasked with collecting genetic material from three enormous dinosaurs. Their mission takes a perilous turn when they become stranded on an island and uncover a shocking secret.
Joining Johansson in the cast are Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, and Ed Skrein.

The newly released image shows Zora wading through tall grass, armed with a tranquiliser gun designed for subduing dinosaurs. Empire shared the image as part of its 2025 Preview, along with comments from director Gareth Edwards.
Edwards described Zora as a former military operative searching for meaning in her life. Her mission offers financial freedom but forces her to confront the ethical dilemmas surrounding cloning and genetic engineering—an ongoing theme in the franchise.
Back to Jurassic Roots
Edwards revealed the film draws inspiration from Steven Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park. “It goes back to what I loved about the original,” he said. The director promised an “embarrassment of riches” in tense, action-packed set pieces designed to captivate audiences.
While the concept of dinosaurs living in the wild continues, the movie begins “a whole new chapter in the timeline of Jurassic,” Edwards teased. This combination of thrilling action and ethical exploration aims to revitalise the beloved series.
