The final episode of The Penguin delivers a thrilling close to Oswald Cobblepot’s story – at least for now. Episode 8 wraps up the spin-off series with dramatic betrayals, tragic deaths, and a fitting end for the iconic Batman villain. But, more intriguingly, it hints at some major connections to The Batman universe.
A Surprising Letter in Arkham Asylum
In the episode’s final moments, we see Sofia Gigante, formerly Falcone, back in Arkham Asylum under the watchful eye of Dr. Julian Rush. While in her cell, Dr. Rush delivers her mail, including a letter that stands out from the usual pile of rants and fan mail. The sender? Selina Kyle, known as Catwoman and played by Zoë Kravitz in The Batman.
Sofia’s shock is clear as Dr. Rush reveals the sender’s message: Selina Kyle claims to be her half-sister. This news will undoubtedly come as a surprise to Sofia. Though it was previously revealed in The Batman that Selina is Carmine Falcone’s daughter, Sofia has only just found out. Her reaction suggests this connection will play a big role in future stories.
A New Threat Looming for Oz
Sofia’s storyline isn’t the only teaser for The Batman 2. The episode also hints at Oswald Cobblepot’s return to Gotham. In one of the final scenes, his girlfriend Eve Karlo tells him that no one can stand in his way now. The camera then pans out, showing the Bat-Signal lighting up the night sky.
With The Batman 2 set for release in 2026, fans can expect Cobblepot, Sofia, and Catwoman’s stories to continue to intertwine in exciting ways.
