Halle Bailey’s biggest fan might just be her 14-month-old son, Halo.
The singer and actress shared a heart-melting clip of her little one watching The Little Mermaid and realising that Ariel—the Disney princess on screen—was his own mum.
Bailey, overwhelmed with emotion, posted the moment on X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“Guys, I’m crying. He actually knows Ariel is me.”
A Special Bond
Bailey welcomed Halo, her first child, in January 2024 with her ex-boyfriend, DDG.
The star made history as the first Black Ariel in Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, starring alongside Javier Bardem (King Triton) and Melissa McCarthy (Ursula). The film was a box office smash, earning over $560 million worldwide and breaking records on Disney+ in its first week of streaming.
From Under the Sea to the Big Screen
Since her role as Ariel, Bailey has taken on another iconic part—a young Nettie in the 2023 remake of The Color Purple. She starred alongside Fantasia Barrino, Colman Domingo, Taraji P. Henson, and Danielle Brooks in the beloved adaptation.
Meanwhile, she’s also making waves in music. Bailey recently earned her first solo Grammy nomination for Best R&B Song with her single “Angel”.
A Musical Legacy in the Making
It looks like Halo may be following in his mum’s footsteps.
Speaking at the NAACP Image Awards, Bailey’s sister Chloe revealed that Halo is already showing a love for music.
“He’s singing, he’s dancing a lot. He’s making beats in his kids’ beats machine … that’s going to be my little mini-producer, my little mini-me.”
It seems talent runs in the family!
