The 2019 Aladdin movie was a box office hit that made over a billion dollars at the box office and Will Smith is due to return, even after he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars.
This is what Chris Rock has to say about the attack.
It is also happens to be Will Smith’s most successful movie to date.
Aladdin was a huge hit, earning $355.5 million domestic and $1.054 billion worldwide from a $180 million budget.
While Smith won his first Oscar for King Richard just minutes after the slap, his career has been at a standstill.
With Smith seems to be slowly regaining ground in Hollywood as Netflix resumes development on Fast and Loose and Sony has given Bad Boys 4, the nod. It seems possible Disney would be comfortable with bringing Smithg back for Aladdin 2.
Guy Ritchie
Director Guy Ritchie also recently said he wanted to bring back Smith for the sequel. In December, he noted in a THR interview that despite the actor’s mishap at the Oscars, Ritchie knows Smith to be a “generous gentleman” whom he’d love to invite back for Aladdin 2.
âIâve never met a more lovely man, and working with him was one of the most wonderful, great experiences Iâve ever had,” Ritchie said. “I never saw anything other than the consummate, generous gentleman.â
He added, âI wouldnât have any issue casting Will Smith in anything, because, as I say, he was just the f—ing perfect gentleman.â
A release date has not been set.
