Home Secretary Suella Braverman has been condemned for suggesting that 100 million asylum seekers could come to the UK without her planned immigration crackdown.
She has now more than doubled down on that figure, of which we will come to in a moment.
In the Commons yesterday John McDonnell told Ms Braverman that her “inflammatory” rhetoric on the topic was putting people in danger, amid violent protests outside asylum seekers’ accommodation in the UK.
“Please tone down the inflammatory language,” he told the home secretary in the Commons. “It’s putting these people at risk and those who represent them.”
Gary Lineker isn’t a fan of the plan either…
Does it remind you of this at all? Echoes of Brexit vote?
More than 100 million?
Mirror Editor Kevin Maguire noticed that the figure could actually be BILLIONS, according to Braverman.
He wrote: “You couldn’t make this up but she is. Suella Braverman’s upgraded her 100m overnight to “likely billions more eager to come here if possible” without her illegal Illegal Migration Bill. Poisonous.”
