Rishi Sunak, the new prime minister, warned the country that “tough decisions” lay ahead but promised to correct the “mistakes” made during Liz Truss’s leadership.
In his first statement after being invited by the King to form a government, he made a commitment to “earn” the nation’s trust as it confronts a “deep economic crisis” on the steps of Downing Street.
Mr. Sunak claimed that his predecessor, who served as prime minister for just 49 days, was “not wrong” in her desire to boost economy and called it a “noble ambition.”
“But some mistakes were made. Not born of ill will or bad intentions – quite the opposite in fact. But mistakes nonetheless,” he added.
“I’ve been elected as leader of my party and your prime minister in part to fix them – and that work begins immediately.”
Lawyer Peter Stefanovic was having none of it though, calling it ‘absolute bollocks’ in his latest viral video.
