Andrew Tate is not happy. Again. This time, he’s taking aim at Ashley Walters, the Top Boy star who recently made waves with his role in Netflix’s hit crime drama, Adolescence.
đź“ş Adolescence: A gripping crime drama taking Netflix by storm
Adolescence is the 2025 British crime miniseries from Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham, directed by Philip Barantini. It follows Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old schoolboy arrested for murdering a classmate.
What makes it stand out? Each episode is filmed in one continuous take—a technical feat that has critics raving. Since its Netflix debut on 13 March, it has dominated the streaming charts, pulling in an eye-watering 24.3 million views.
The show isn’t just about storytelling. It’s a wake-up call, urging young people to disconnect from screens and re-engage with real life.
🔥 Ashley Walters delivers his best performance yet
Stephen Graham, the show’s star and co-creator, was inspired by real-life youth violence. Tragic cases like Ava White (2021) and Elianne Andam (2023) brought the issue close to home.
But Graham isn’t the only one delivering a powerful performance. Ashley Walters shines as DI Luke Bascombe, the lead investigator. The Guardian even calls it his career-best role.
Interestingly, Walters had been thinking about quitting acting to focus on directing. But Adolescence changed his mind, especially as the subject matter resonated with his own past—he was sentenced to 18 months in his teens for gun possession.
🎙️ Redefining masculinity—and hitting a nerve
Walters recently sat down with The Female Lead to discuss “redefining masculinity in the age of Andrew Tate.” That interview didn’t sit well with Tate—and he made sure to let everyone know.
đź’Ą Andrew Tate fires back
Coincidentally (or not), the show landed on Netflix just as reports emerged about crossbow killer Kyle Clifford. Before his attack, Clifford had searched misogynistic podcasts and watched Andrew Tate videos.
Tate, however, was more focused on Walters. Taking to social media, he fumed:
“Super disappointed Asher D sold out with bullshit that I cause stabbing as if I don’t preach the total opposite. Especially with a past like his. Everyone sells their soul in the entertainment industry or you don’t get the acting jobs. He knows it’s bullshit. Coulda stood on business but was afraid of backlash. Guess he isn’t so solid after all.”
So, what next? Walters has yet to respond. But one thing’s clear—Adolescence is making people talk.
