Aquaman 2 seems to be under a permanent cloud after the film was dragged into the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial of the century.
Aquaman 2
Now notes from a December 27 2021 therapy session Amber Heard had with Dr. Dawn Hughes read: ‘Jason said he wanted me fired. Jason drunk – late on set’
Heard, 37, will return as Mera in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom set for release on December 20, 2023, even though she claimed her role had been reduced.
The director had a robust response to that though.
New claims
Variety reports Depp fans paid the court fees for the release of December 27 2021 notes from Heard’s therapist, Dr. Dawn Hughes – which were written on a pad -and formed part of the trial last year.
The notes detail an alleged hostile Aquaman 2 set – reading: ‘Jason said he wanted me fired. Jason drunk — late on set. Dressing like Johnny. Has all the rings too.’
Representatives for Momoa declined to comment.
A DC Studios spokesman said: ‘Jason Momoa conducted himself in a professional manner at all times on the set of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.’
Also, billionaire Elon Musk ‘had one of his litigators ‘send a ‘scorched-earth letter to Warner Bros. threatening to burn the house down’ if Heard wasn’t in the sequel it has also been claimed.
Heard/Depp legal background
Amber Heard and Johnny Depp were involved in a highly publicised legal dispute.
In 2020, Johnny Depp filed a defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard in the United Kingdom over an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post, in which she discussed her experiences with domestic abuse without naming Depp.
Depp claimed that the op-ed implied he was an abuser and that it had a negative impact on his career.
After Johnny Depp won the defamation trial against ex Amber Heard after he sued over ‘sexual violence’ claims Heard said: “The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I’m heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband.
“I’m even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback.
“It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated.
“It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously.
“I believe Johnny’s attorneys succeeded in getting the jury to overlook the key issue of Freedom of Speech and ignore evidence that was so conclusive that we won in the UK.
“I’m sad I lost this case. But I am sadder still that I seem to have lost a right I thought I had as an American – to speak freely and openly.”
Depp statement
Depp also released a statement, saying: “Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people who for many, many years have supported and believed in me were forever changed.
“All in the blink of an eye.
“False, very serious and criminal allegations were levied at me via the media, which triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me. It had already travelled around the world twice within a nanosecond and it had a seismic impact on my life and my career.
“And six years later, the jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled.”
