Elon Musk’s takeover of X/Twitter has gone about as well as expected. Many users have jumped ship, looking for a space where they can have a laugh without conspiracy theorists jumping into their mentions. Enter Bluesky – the new social media haven for witty political banter.
📢 Rupert Lowe’s political limbo
Meanwhile, the Tories are dealing with their own chaos. According to The Sun, former Southampton FC owner Rupert Lowe has been in talks with senior Conservative MPs. It seems they see him as a potential asset for the next election.
Lowe hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but sources claim he’s “not ruling anything out.” His recent suspension from Reform – after calling Nigel Farage “messianic” and allegedly intimidating Reform Chair Zia Yusuf – has left him without a party. Reform now has just four MPs, the same as the Green Party.
📺 #TorySitcoms takes over Bluesky
With all this political drama, social media has done what it does best – turned it into a joke. Over on Bluesky, users have been coming up with sitcom-inspired names for the Tory Party.
The hashtag #TorySitcoms has taken off, with some absolute gems, including:
- Only Scams and Taxes
- Yes, Prime Sinister
- The Thick of It (Again)
- How I Blew Your Mother’s Pension
- Fawlty Towers of Power
As the Tories continue to fumble their way through political turmoil, at least the internet is making sure we get a few laughs out of it.
