The EU fingerprint Check plans have been released and we have the details.
EU fingerprint Check
The EU will begin taking British travellers’ fingerprints and scanning their faces from next autumn, reports The Evening Standard.
The new Entry/Exit Scheme (EES) could reportedly come into force on October 6, 2024.
It was initially due to begin in 2022, then in 2023, as delays have occurred.
New Rules
Non-EU (including British) travellers heading to the EU will have their fingerprints checked and their faces scanned the first time they enter the zone. It will apply to all EU countries except Cyprus and Ireland.
Eurotunnel
Representatives from Eurotunnel previously told a House of Lords committee the risk was not within terminals. “It is what happens when the enrolment is happening at the French booths, which blocks the exit check booths for the UK, which in turn blocks check-in and then creates queues leading up to the check-in that back up on to the motorway. That then puts static passenger traffic on the high-speed motorway,” they said.
GB News had their ‘special’ take on it…
