Chris Packham had a very amusing response to a ‘jellyfish’ spotted in Cornwall.
One X account shared a picture and wrote: “Hi @ChrisGPackham , not sure if you’re an expert in jellyfish but I’ve just seen this on Perranporth Beach, Cornwall and I was wondering if you could identify it?”
Being a good sport he replied writing: “What an extraordinary find @Brikka49 . It’s a Megaphallus.plasticus . Unfortunately dead but rigor mortis has set in and rather than flopping uselessly on the pebbles it’s still remarkably turgid . Superb !”

On a more sombre note, Chris has said how the death of his dog which hit him so hard it sent him spiralling out of control, mentally.
He said: ‘It was like I got hit by a train. It was like I was winded, I could barely breathe because of everything that was coming out and it had been locked up for so long.’
Chris admits he has suffered from other desperate moments, even while he was undergoing treatment.
He admitted: ‘I’d started to spend a lot of time in France, and I was on my own there for quite long periods, and on another occasion, I came very close to killing myself. And what kept me alive were the dogs, I just looked down and I thought, “I can’t leave them”. It was the fact that there wasn’t anyone else at that point who could have loved them as much as I did.’
“Chris is a vocal opponent of fox-hunting, and an ardent campaigner for measures to protect birds from being shot. In 2019, dead crows were strung up outside his home, while two years later the gates to his house were fire-bombed by masked men,’ reports The Mirror.
