Donald Trump caused a stir with comments about Elon Musk during his “Make America Great Again Victory Rally” on Sunday. In praising Musk for his help on the campaign trail, the President-elect mentioned “vote counting computers” in a way that raised more than a few eyebrows—particularly from Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett.
From SpaceX to “All Those Computers”
Trump began by applauding Musk’s achievements with SpaceX, before switching gears and praising his contribution to Trump’s electoral success in Pennsylvania:
“He journeyed to Pennsylvania, where he spent like a month and a half campaigning for me… He knows those computers better than anybody.”
Cue the attention-grabbing lines:
“All those computers. Those vote counting computers. And we ended up winning Pennsylvania in a landslide… it was pretty good.”
“Is He Confessing to Another Crime?”
Democratic Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett quickly took to X (formerly Twitter), posting a video clip of Trump’s comments and writing:
“So, Trump is rambling on about he and Elon rigging the election?! Am I missing something, or is he confessing to yet another crime?!”
Musk’s reaction was limited to a salute emoji in response, but that hasn’t stopped rumours of a new wave of conspiracy theories floating about on social media—some claiming election tampering, others questioning whether Trump was simply misspeaking.
A Curious Confession or Just Rambling?
There’s no evidence of large-scale election fraud in the latest contests or in 2020, and Trump hasn’t elaborated on his remarks. Still, many speculate he’ll be pressed on this apparent “slip-up” in the coming days, leaving us to wonder if there’s more to the story or if it’s just another case of Trump being Trump.
