High-profile individuals such as former US President Bill Clinton and the UK’s Prince Andrew have been mentioned in recently released US court documents detailing their associations with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. These records are part of the case against Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s girlfriend, who has been incarcerated for aiding him in exploiting underage girls.
Among the mentioned individuals are singer Michael Jackson and magician David Copperfield, although no allegations of wrongdoing have been made against them. Prince Andrew faces accusations of inappropriate conduct, which he denies.
The documents reveal over 100 names, some of whom make claims against others or could potentially serve as witnesses. They highlight the extensive social network surrounding Epstein, who previously admitted guilt for soliciting prostitution from a minor in 2009.
However, the released documents do not contain any groundbreaking revelations about Epstein, who passed away in jail while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges.
These documents, comprising approximately 900 pages, were made public following an order by New York Judge Loretta Preska. She noted that many of the individuals named had already been identified by the media or in Maxwell’s previous criminal trial. Judge Preska also emphasized that some names would remain redacted to protect victims of sexual abuse, with more documents expected to be released in the near future.
One notable claim within the newly-released files comes from Johanna Sjoberg, who alleges that Prince Andrew touched her breast during an encounter in Epstein’s Manhattan apartment in 2001. Buckingham Palace has denied these allegations.
Former President Clinton is mentioned in the documents, though without any implication of wrongdoing. He previously stated in 2019 that he had no knowledge of Epstein’s crimes. The records also include testimony from Maxwell confirming that Clinton had traveled on Epstein’s private jet. Clinton had taken trips on the jet for humanitarian purposes to Africa in the early 2000s and had praised Epstein as a philanthropist at the time. However, he later distanced himself from Epstein.
The documents additionally mention Donald Trump, with Epstein supposedly planning to contact him during a 2001 trip. However, there are no allegations of wrongdoing against Trump within these records.
Other individuals referenced in the documents include Jean-Luc Brunel, a French modeling agent who faced rape charges and died in a Paris jail in 2022, and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, who was accused of sexual misconduct but denied ever meeting one of Epstein’s accusers.
Alfredo Rodriguez, a former household employee responsible for Epstein’s security, is also mentioned in the documents. According to his testimony, he described Maxwell as “the boss” and stated that he was instructed to carry cash to provide to high school girls involved in Epstein’s recruitment efforts.
Jeffrey Epstein died in 2019, officially ruled a suicide by the New York medical examiner. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for her role in Epstein’s activities, while maintaining her innocence.
