Darren Grimes, GB News presenter, has again been lamenting the decline of the UK on social media. He yearns for the glory days of old, but how old?

He sent a black and white photo from ‘the olden days’ as he whines that ‘back then we didn’t have so much’, generating a huge amount of pushback and general astonishment on social media.

Before we get there, Grimes had a moan about Deliveroo drivers.

He wrote: “I walk around my home. Filled with Deliveroo drivers speaking in foreign tongue, public transport full of foreign people and a high street populated by foreign beggars, and I wonder what on earth our ancestors died for?”

This was one great reply. One person wrote: “Top tip. When Deliveroo bring you your order, you’re not meant to invite them in and tell them to stay.”

Glory days?

Here’s what Grimes had to say on Twitter about the glory days.

Grimes wrote: “Back then we didn’t have much. Life was hard, work was dangerous and times were tough. But my God at least we had each other — the country was united. In my lifetime that has been thoroughly lost.”

This picture was taken in 1984 during the miner's strike.

Maybe someone needs to explain to Darren Grimes what that was. pic.twitter.com/px7dSODuhg

"The country was united".

That's a June 1984 photo from the MINER'S STRIKE you moron – in a place where there was then a RIOT.

You'd have been screeching that these women and their families were lefties / communists for not siding with Thatcher. pic.twitter.com/zgGl4iwiVA
