The Daily Mail had an angry (as ever) front page. They claim that ‘the hard-left union leader behind the most disruptive strike in NHS history goes on HOLIDAY – just as junior doctors walk out, bringing fear and misery to patients – ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
It comes as thousands of junior doctors in England are on the second day of a four-day strike in pursuit of their campaign to achieve “full pay restoration” after a significant loss of earnings since 2008-09. It is expected that up to 350,000 appointments and operations could be cancelled as a result.
It seems the paper is correct Dr Robert Laurenson going on already planned leave in order to attend a friend’s wedding, but where is the Health Sec Steve Barclay?
ON HOLIDAY!
Former Sun editor Kelvin Mackenzie still thinks the Daily Mail had a scoop and the doctor is getting paid.
Rishi Sunak said he was “surprised to read” that the British Medical Association’s junior doctors committee co-chairman Dr Robert Laurenson was on holiday during the strikes
Paid holiday, the cheek of it….
As this response points out: “Where is the whole of parliament this week…. On holiday…”
