A double-decker bus with a mission is now rolling through Coventry, offering rough sleepers a safe place to rest and rebuild.
The Ur Bus has seven sleeping pods upstairs and a meeting space downstairs to help people take their first steps towards permanent housing.

🌟 Turning a bus into a lifeline
The idea came from Aiden Feeney, who saw the growing homelessness problem and wanted to act.
“We identified an issue and thought, why not renovate a double-decker bus to help people move towards a home?”
The project isn’t just about a bed for the night. The lower deck has been transformed into a space where charities and social workers can offer support. There’s even a tea station – because a cuppa makes everything better.
⚽ Ex-footballer Kirk Stephens steps in to help
Former Coventry City player Kirk Stephens is backing the project. He didn’t hesitate when Aiden asked for his help.
“I saw an elderly woman living in a bin store behind some flats, and I thought, ‘this shouldn’t be happening’,” he said.
Kirk believes the Ur Bus can get people off the streets and into permanent housing.
🏠 How it works
The seven sleeping pods upstairs will be available for up to seven nights at a time, from 7pm to 7am.
Meanwhile, the lower deck will serve as a hub for people to get advice, connect with charities, and plan their next steps.
The bus needs landowners willing to offer a safe place to park overnight.
“We need places to stop and plug in,” Aiden explained. “No drugs, no drinking – just a safe space.”
With support from the community, this bus could be a life-changing opportunity for those who need it most.
