A damning report has comprehensively torn apart the Met Police.
The force is broken and rotten, suffering collapsing public trust and is guilty of institutional racism, misogyny and homophobia, the report has found.
The report by Louise Casey, commissioned by the Met after one of its officers abducted Sarah Everard and murdered her.
In response to the report Baroness Doreen Lawrence said: “It is not, and has never been, a case of a few âbad applesâ within the Metropolitan Police. It is rotten to the core. Discrimination is institutionalised within the Metropolitan police and it needs changing from top to bottom.
“Baroness Caseyâs report and its findings are the last chance for the Metropolitan Police to get it right and if it does not, it must be forced to do so.”
Braverman
So what has Suella Braverman said about the Casey Review?
The report makes for âdifficult readingâ for âthe whole of the policing family,â she said.
âThe vast majority of the people who serve in our Met Police force are honest, decent, brave professionals⊠but it is clear there have been systemic problems for far too long,â she said.
Braverman expressed âtotal confidenceâ in the head of the force, Sir Mark Rowley, to âturn the Met aroundâ and said it was essential to support the âprogress he is making in ridding the force of those corrupt or dangerous police officers who are not fit to wear the badge.â
Asked what the government would do about the Casey Review, Braverman said: âWhat we need to do is change the culture, structure and system that is regulating the Met.â
