Mick Lynch radio appearance on LBC has been hailed as another example of the union boss batting off all comers.
Keir under fire
Speaking to LBC’s Nick Ferrari, Mr Lynch said: “I don’t think we are getting enough support from (Labour leader) Keir and I’ve said that many times.
“I think he could be a bit more assertive. Not just for us, but for all those working people that are struggling [and] working people in general could have a bit more support.”
No agreement?
Train staff have been offered a five per cent increase for 2022 and four per cent for 2023 but Mr Lynch said this was well below the rate of inflation
“The government have locked down this dispute. They have said to the rail delivery group that there are no negotiations. They are not even giving them any instructions to move on the dispute,” Mr Lynch said.
“It’s very likely there’ll be more strike action by the RMT I’m afraid…we are locked into a dispute that has got no resolution.”
Glastonbury
He said: “I was invited but I’m too busy and it’s a distraction. I do a lot of public events but I’m not doing Glastonbury this year. It’s too much of a distraction this year.”
