Nadine Dorries has gone after doctors today.
The last we heard she had resigned as an MP but it seems she is still clinging on to ‘power.’
Anyway, she has taken to the Daily Mail (naturally) to have a pop at the NHS.
It comes as a report claims the NHS has some of the worst health outcomes out of 19 wealthy nations compared in an international study, she writes.
Dorries concludes the piece, writing: “…if we are going to pay for the training of yet more doctors in the UK, they should be required to work in the NHS afterwards, as we taxpayers have funded their training.
“It costs nearly half a million pounds of our money to train a GP or a surgeon. Currently, they are free to take advantage of our subsidised training, then later move to Australia or New Zealand — as almost half do — and not pay a penny back!
Nadine Dorries attacks doctors
“We should introduce some years-of-service requirement, just as the Army does for a university scholarship.
“The NHS is not yet beyond the pale. With the help of the very capable Health Secretary Steve Barclay — one of the most able politicians in Westminster — it can improve its management and productivity to offer more beds, more operations and better care. Goodness knows, after this new report, it needs to do something, fast.”
She shared her opinion piece and wrote: “My @DailyMailUK column today. We tax payers pay half a million £ to train a doctor and when they are qualified, almost half of them from some medical schools head to Australia or NZ. Time to impose pay back!”
