Penny Mordaunt, Leader of the House of Commons and Lord President of the Privy Council, was the surprise participant in the coronation with her stoney-faced sword-bearing.
She became the first woman to carry the sword of state during the procession at Westminster Abbey.
Tony Blair’s former spin doctor, Alastair Campbell, tweeted during the event: “Don’t let anyone ever say I never say anything positive about Tories . . . I am in awe of Penny Mordaunt’s arm and shoulder strength!”
This is amusing…
MSM lost the plot?
In a sign that the MSM has gone mad, various papers dedicated a feature to it.
‘Can a Guardian journalist armed with a jug of water emulate the Tory MP’s starring role at the coronation in which she carried a 3.6kg sword for 51 minutes?’
Turns out the ‘burn was extreme’:
How to get arms of steel like Penny Mordaunt reported The Telegraph.
‘Thanks to her role as Lord President of the Privy Council, Mordaunt was entrusted with carrying the Sword of State during the ceremony. The 350-year-old ceremonial blade weighs in at 3.5kg, so this was pretty impressive,” they report.
Also they add, “She noted in advance of the ceremony that her experience in the armed forces made her used to “standing for long periods of time, not fainting”.
“She had also, apparently, been doing press-ups for a month.”
Poundland
So what is Poundland thing? It is doubtful she has been in one, ok maybe once for a photo opp.
The link was made due to the dress she was wearing.
