At today’s PMQs Starmer attacks Sunak, but it was not one way traffic for the Labour leader.

Sir Starmer said Rishi Sunak has given up on the mortgage crisis.

‘Mortgage holders will be £2,900 poorer under the Tories. How can they claim to be the party of home ownership?’ The Labour leader demanded to know.

Labour are now the party of home ownership, Starmer claimed.

He then slammed Rishi Sunak for asking the nation to hold their nerve.

However, Rishi Sunak also deployed two negative attack lines, accusing Starmer of inconsistency and hypocrisy.

On inconsistency his said: “I would say to [Labour MPs], though, they don’t have to worry too much because he has never actually kept a promise he has made.’

Then he went after the Labour leader on hypcoirst over housebuilding in the green built and he said: “He now claims that he supports housebuilding, especially on the green belt.

“But unfortunately for him, the shadow deputy prime minister, the shadow minister for women, the shadow health, justice, defence, business, Northern Ireland and Scotland ministers are all united against more housebuilding in their areas.”

The SNP’s Stephen Flynn then called PM Rishi Sunak a “near billionaire.”

Flynn then asked when Sunak last struggled to pay a bill.

He didn’t asnwer that question, one assumes he hasn’t had a cash card launch itself out at you, and a strip of paper prints out to tell you you’re skint.

The SNP Westminster Leader made the reference to the prime minister’s wealth after Mr Sunak urged homeowners and borrowers to “hold their nerve” after fixed-rate mortgages rose to their highest level since the aftermath of Liz Truss’ disastrous mini-Budget.

Mr Sunak and his wife have an estimated worth of around £529m, according to the most recent Sunday Times Rich List.
