The Sunday Times Rich List is always a source of interest. Some are envious, some jealous, and some want to bring down capitalism after seeing how rich some people actually are.
The paper reported there are 171 billionaires in the UK — down from 177 in 2022.
Quite a few of this uber rich have had their vast wealth cut (yep the violins are firmly out).
Sir Richard Branson’s fortune has shrunk by 42.6 per cent to £2.41 billion, which will surely bring a smile to your face.
Corbyn for one…
Sunak’s toast?
So where are the Sunak’s? Well, for them, it’s a nightmare.
But in the real world, their wealth is still not in the real world.
Rishi Sunak and his wife have £529m, down £201m from the previous year.
They have been overtaken by the Warburton family, with a huge loaf of £586m, get the toast pun now? It’s ok if you didn’t it was rubbish.
Charles
Well, what abour new head of state? The list revealed that the monarch is the 263rd richest person in the country, with a £600million personal fortune. We can never be sure on the royals actual wealth as it is shrouded in such secrecy.
For example, after the death of Prince Philip in 2021, the president of the family court held a secret hearing from which the media were in effect excluded.
The judge went further than ruling that just Philip’s will should be sealed, announcing that the wills of all senior royals should henceforth be secret for a minimum of 90 years.
But, in terms of declared wealth the Times can calculate, he had double what his mum had.
The Queen’s was measured at £370million before her death last September.
Also, we paid roughly £100m for his coronation.
And now he is king, so maybe stop moaning about fountain pen ink, yeh Charlie?!
