Richard Madeley is Alan Partridge again as he discussed the attack of merchant vessels in the Red Sea.
Several firms have paused shipments through the Red Sea route after vessels were attacked by Houthi rebels in Yemen, some using drones.
The stalling of cargo due to the attacks, could also push up oil prices.
US defence secretary Lloyd Austin said: “These reckless Houthi attacks are a serious international problem and they demand a firm international response.”
The other route is taking ships around the Cape of Good Hope
This adds around 3,500 nautical miles to the journey and adds about 10 days to the jounrney.
Richard Madeley Is Alan Partridge
Returning to Richard Madeley he discussed the matter on GMB.
He said: “Richard Madeley asks why can’t we protect our ships in the Red Sea when we won the battle of the Atlantic against German U-Boats.”
