A Rishi Sunak video trolled, by a bloke in Iceland, and the struggling PM is not popular at all, all adds up to a bad week for Sunak.
Popularity
It comes as ‘just one in five voters now believe Mr Sunak would make the best prime minister, down from a quarter before the Tory get-together, according to the new YouGov poll,’ reports The Independent.
Saying that Sir Keri Starmer is struggling with 32 per cent of those polled saying he would be the best PM. It was 34 per cent last month.
It seems party conferences just remind the public how much they don’t like politicians in general.
Rishi Sunak video trolled
“Even when he’s touching stuff he’s showing how out of touch he is,” wrote one person as Sunak tried to do the ‘swipe’ video move, used by ‘influencers,’ and it is not annoying at all…
This guy from Iceland nails it though.
“Rishi Sunak’s attempt at a video transition has made him viral on TikTok as people globally duet with him – here’s one from Iceland,’ wrote Nazir Afzal.
UK to step up deployment of troops to northern Europe
In a news release about the deployment, Downing Street said: “More than 20,000 British troops will be deployed to [northern Europe] next year, which is vital for the protection of critical national infrastructure, as the exploitation of hybrid activities and strategic competition in the area accelerates.”
Sunak said, via a statement, “As the international order continues to be challenged by desperate dictators, rogue states, and terrorist organisations – like Hamas – we must stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our international friends and partners to defend our values, security and prosperity.
“Northern Europe is vital to our national security, which is why it’s more important than ever that we work with our Joint Expeditionary Force neighbours to protect our backyard and deter damaging hybrid threats.”
