The Russian Embassy had a message to the UK which doesn’t seem to have done what it intended.
It comes as Volodymyr Zelenskyy has shared a video showing damage caused by Russian attacks on Ukraine in the past few days – saying they show Vladimir Putin does not want the war to end.
He says Ukraine is fighting for the “normal and safe life it deserves” and “for a peace that is just and reliable”.
“Those who want negotiations do not deliberately hit people with ballistic missiles.
Also, a deal to end the war is still “very, very far away”, he said, adding he expects to keep receiving US support despite his public spat with Donald Trump last week.
“I think our relationship (with the US) will continue, because it’s more than an occasional relationship,” the Ukrainian president said.
Additionally, Lord Mandelson has said Ukraine should be the first side to declare a ceasefire in its war with Russia as he called for Volodymyr Zelensky to back Donald Trump’s minerals deal in a clash with Downing Street’s position on the war.
Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey accused Lord Mandelson of confusing the government’s position.
He wrote on X: “What is Mandelson up to? You cannot square what the Prime Minister said this morning with this. What is the Government’s actual position?
“Our man in DC should be securing US protection for our brave Ukrainian allies, not telling President Zelensky what to do.”
Russian Embassy
A war in Europe is never a good thing, and the Russian Embassy in the UK tried to calm any panic of an extended war in Europe, potentially reaching Britain.
The Russian Embassy wrote on X: “Russia poses no threat to the UK: neither in its waters, airspace, nor streets & certainly not to Britain’s long-suffering NHS. We have no need to do so. It is the UK government that needs these fabrications to avoid dealing with the country’s real social & economic problems.”
Do you feel more safe? Yep, of course you don’t, and a lot of people on social media seemed to agree.
