The PM is after those pesky scammers. Rishi Sunak’s fraud plan is that extensive it took 4 tweets to get across all the things the government is going to do.
He tweeted: “Today, we’re launching a new plan to stop scams at the source and help make it easier for people to protect themselves from fraudsters.”
He followed it up with: “We’ll do everything possible to stop scammers: – Banning SIM farms that can send thousands of texts in one go – Working with Ofcom to stop spoof calls, which trick people into thinking they’re speaking to legitimate businesses – Banning cold calls on all financial products.”
“We’re going to hunt down fraudsters and bring them to justice: – Launching a National Fraud Squad, led by @NCA_UK and the @CityPolice – Use UK’s intelligence community to identify and disrupt fraudsters overseas – Delay payments where banks suspect fraud.”
“We’re going to arm people with the power of information and knowledge: – Investing £30M in a brand new reporting centre – Working with tech companies to introduce one-click reporting – Offering tailored support to victims through the National Economic Crime Victim Care Unit.”

Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said: “Fraud is a pernicious crime that ruins the lives of millions of people across the country.
“Yet few victims ever get a police response and the Home Office has totally failed to get any grip despite the rapid growth of fraud.”
She added: “This plan is too little, too late and fails to match the scale of the problem”.
Mone
A LOT of accounts were wondering when the government would investigate Baroness Mone.
Baroness Michelle Mone took a leave of absence from the House of Lords after questions around her alleged links to a firm awarded contracts for personal protective equipment (PPE) intensified.
In 2021, the government revealed that she had referred PPE Medpro via the VIP lane system, with the company awarded two contracts worth £200m.
She is facing allegations that she had profited from the business, a claim she denies.
Mone recently jetted off with her husband to a £7million villa in the Algarve – which he reportedly bought three months after their homes were raided by police investigating their £200million government PPE contract.
