A disturbing network of Telegram channels linked to Russia is reportedly urging UK residents to attack mosques and Muslims—and even offering cryptocurrency as a reward.
The human rights group Hope Not Hate uncovered the operation and provided evidence to the authorities, according to The Guardian.
Extremist Content and Terrorist ‘How-To’ Guides
The network doesn’t just spread hate—it actively encourages violence. Members have shared videos of arson, acid attacks, and homemade bomb tests. Some even discussed burning the Quran.
The groups also distribute PDFs with bomb-making instructions and blueprints for 3D-printed weapons. To keep their activities hidden, they invite British citizens to contact them privately through encrypted chatbots.
Mosques in London Targeted
Over the past few weeks, vandals have attacked at least seven mosques and Islamic schools in East and South London. In one incident, someone spray-painted “remigration or die” on the walls of an Islamic primary school in Leyton.
The rise in attacks has left local communities deeply concerned.
Experts Fear Terror Recruitment
Gregory Davis, a senior researcher at Hope Not Hate, warned that this could be part of a wider Russian effort to recruit extremists in the UK.
“We are concerned that this network is designed to recruit people to carry out acts of violence. They may already be grooming individuals for terrorism.”
The organisation believes far-right British activists are being privately encouraged to commit attacks.
MP Calls for Urgent Action
Labour MP Stella Creasy, whose Walthamstow constituency has been hit by far-right graffiti, said the threat must be taken seriously.
“These are credible allegations of foreign interference. There is a clear effort to mislead, provoke, and divide communities—both online and offline.”
Hope Not Hate has urged Telegram and law enforcement to shut down the network immediately and investigate those involved.
