Jacob Rees-Mogg was on his GB News show spouting off about the amazing new trade deal known as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
Last week trade secretary Kemi Badenoch was forced to push back against criticism that signing a trade deal with a loose collection of countries on the other side of the world would only add 0.08% to the UK’s gross national product.
Regardless Tory MPs hailed the UK’s entry last week into the Indo-Pacific trading bloc as a major step on the road to re-establishing Britain as a pioneer of free trade.
The Spectator has spun it, they write: “Curiously though, the trade and economic benefits which the UK might derive are likely to be pretty meagre. The real story in the UK’s additional tilt into Asia is potentially about geopolitics.”
Complete bollo**s
Peter shared his new video and wrote: “Jacob Rees-Mogg can’t contain his excitement at the Governments latest post Brexit trade deal – by now even Larry the cat knows he’s talking complete boll***”
Carol Voderman retweeted the video and wrote: “Another excellent piece of factual analysis by @PeterStefanovi2 Please watch.”
