Chancellor Jeremy Hunt said ‘There is much work to do’ on economy and inflation.
Hunt said that the UK is “on the right track”, however there is much to do to help support families up and down the country.
The Chancellor added: “We want to resolve the public sector strikes quickly as we can.”
Back in March Jeremy Hunt blasted for ignoring public sector pay demands in ‘betrayal’ Budget.
Nurses, teachers and paramedics have responded with fury at the Chancellor’s failure to hike public sector pay.
Chancellor
It seems nothing has changed as he told the media that public sector pay rises will increase inflation.
His comments led to filmmaker Peter Stefanovic to create another video, slamming Hunt’s comments, and the lack of media interrogation of his claims.
Peter shared the video and wrote: “This is an absolute disgrace. The Chancellor running around news shows today shamelessly telling viewers – UNCHALLENGED – giving public sector workers inflation busting pay rises will entrench high inflation. The claim has been completely rubbished by most economists!!”
Global economy
It comes as the world economy is entering a ‘perilous phase.’
Its chief economist Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas added that there were also more severe risks in prospect.
He said: “We are… entering a perilous phase during which economic growth remains low by historical standards and financial risks have risen, yet inflation has not yet decisively turned the corner.”
