Chancellor Jeremy Hunt made his flagship speech today and it hasn’t been well received to put it mildly!
Peter Stefanovic has pulled it apart in another barnstorming video. However, we will come to that in a moment.
Business reaction
How did business react to the speech?
Well, business groups said it was “empty” and having “little meat on the bones of his vision”.
The chief economist of the Institute of Directors, Kitty Ussher, said it was good to see Hunt “championing Britain’s strengths to potential investors”, in particular its hi-tech industries, universities and financial markets.
She added: “But while he referenced the current prime minister’s Mais lecture of a year ago that opened the door to using the tax system to encourage investment in people, capital and ideas, we heard nothing about how it would be done.
The chancellor himself said today’s speech was “not a series of measures or announcements”. We would therefore add a fifth E for ‘empty’ to his 4 Es economic framework.
So not great!
Viral video
Peter shared a new video and wrote: “The Chancellors “flagship” speech completely ignored the elephant in the room – the catastrophic economic damage being inflicted on the country by BREXIT What hope is there for the UK economy with such rank dishonesty & denial from the Government? Get the FACTS here!”
