GMB’s Susanna Reid made her feelings clear about how easily the UK government has found enough money for war.
It comes as Sir Keir Starmer has announced a £1.6bn missile deal for Ukraine, following a summit of European leaders in London.
The prime minister also announced “a number” of allies had signed up to a “coalition of the willing”, alongside France’s President Emmanuel Macron, prepared to commit troops to the Ukrainian frontline in the event of a peace deal.

Also on today’s show was former defence secretary, Penny Mordaunt, she said: “Look, spending money on defense is spending money on domestic priorities. Our armed forces do a fantastic job every day and because they do, we don’t notice what they do. 90% of everything you are going to use today has come to this country by sea.
“We port 50% of our food, 97% of the data we use are transmitted through undersea cables which are under attack every day from Russia. So if you don’t spend money on defense and protecting those things, you will very quickly feel it.”
Susanna then pointed out that when Russia first invaded Ukraine “energy prices went through the roof.”
Money for war
Later Susanna Ried said: “We’ve suddenly found all of this money to defend [Ukraine], where was that money when the govt came into power saying there’s a £22bn blackhole & we need to take money away from pensioners to fill it.”
