Recently former Conservative minister Ann Widdecombe says she took leap from ‘political homelessness’ because it is ‘only way to save the Union’ by joining Reform.
Now today, she was on BBC’s politics live and saying some truly awful comments.
Presenter Jo Coburn asked: “What do you say to people who can’t literally afford basic food items… like that cheese sandwich?
Ann Widdecombe replied: “Don’t have the cheese sandwich.”
Another panel member Rachel Cunliffe from the New Statesman asked Ann: “So you would let the children go hungry?”
She also said: “If people aren’t willing to pick fruit & vegetables… why should we pay for them to sit at home.”
Is it Brexit’s fault that we are in such an economic mess?
Of course not!
Jo Coburn said: Nigel Farage admitted that brexit has failed... do you agree?
Ann Widdecombe replied: “No… you can’t blame brexit… we are aligned with Europe… we are bonkers.”
Put in her place
Saul Staniforth shared a video from a while ago and wrote: “Ex Tory MP Ann Widdecombe was on #PoliticsLive today saying that inflation is being driven by workers wage demands and this creates a wage price spiral. She said the same on Jeremy Vine last year. Fortunately she was alongside Eddie Dempsey.”
