US vice-president JD Vance has blasted the UK, calling it “some random country that hasn’t fought a war in 30 years.”
It comes as plans have emerged to dispatch 20,000 British and French troops to Ukraine for peacekeeping.
In response, Vance stated that to truly secure peace in the region, the US must have an “economic upside in the future of Ukraine.”
Vance added: “If you want real security guarantees, if you want to actually ensure that Vladimir Putin does not invade Ukraine again, the very best security guarantee is to give Americans economic upside in the future of Ukraine. That is a way better security guarantee than 20,000 troop from some random country that hasn’t fought a war in 30 or 40 years.”
He then claimed: “The only guy in town with a strategy is the President of the United States, and everybody needs to follow his lead.” This comes after a recent tense interaction with Keir Starmer.”
The UK has actually been engaged in numerous military actions globally since 1980, often in collaboration with the US. During the early 2000s, hundreds of British service members lost their lives supporting US-led operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
