Watch: Top Tory responds as football fans unfurl NSFW banner while he is at work

Scottish Conservatives leader Douglas Ross has responded after fans unveiled an expletive banner at him over the weekend.

It was unfurled as he was linesman during Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie between Celtic and St Mirren. 

His second job is probably the only Tory second job where they get even more grief than the day job.

Ross has admitted he did see the banner.

The leader of the Scottish Conservatives was the subject of a banner which read “VAR DECISION: DOUGLAS ROSS IS A C***” as he ran the line during the first half of the Hoops’ 5-1 victory.

One person wrote: “If you’re more upset by a banner calling Tory leader Douglas Ross a cunt than far right fascists laying siege to a hotel full of asylum seekers, rioting and setting fire to a police van then you too are a cunt and need to have a long conversation with your own dark, bitter soul.”

For people in the rest of the UK that may not be aware, Douglas Ross is the Scottish Tory leader, he is also a professional football linesman.

Ross responds

He told Northsound News: “I saw the banner being unveiled, I don’t think anyone could have not seen it given the size it was. But my duty at Celtic Park was to run the line, to be an assistant referee, and that’s where my focus was for the entire 90 minutes.”
