Donald Trump has hinted he’s on board with the idea of America joining the British Commonwealth—if King Charles makes the offer.
On Thursday, reports suggested the King is considering inviting the US to become an “associate member” of the Commonwealth. The move is said to be an effort to ease tensions between the US and Canada.
Now, Trump has responded in classic Trump fashion.
Trump’s reaction: ‘Sounds good to me!’ 🤝
Sharing a screenshot of The Sun’s report on the proposal, Trump took to Truth Social and wrote:
“I love King Charles. Sounds good to me!”
That’s about as close to a “yes” as you’re going to get from him.

A source told the Daily Mail that the plan is being “discussed at the highest levels”.
“It would be a wonderful move that would symbolise Britain’s close relationship with the US.”
They added that Trump “loves Britain” and “has great respect for the Royal Family”, so he’d likely see the benefits of joining.
If the US accepts, it would become the 57th nation in the Commonwealth.
Not the first offer… 👑
This wouldn’t be the first time the idea has been floated.
Back in 2017, Queen Elizabeth II reportedly offered Commonwealth membership to Trump during his state visit to the UK.
The Commonwealth was originally formed as the British Empire fell apart, creating a union of independent nations with historical ties to Britain. Despite America once being a British colony, it has never been part of the Commonwealth.
Now, with Trump seemingly open to the idea, could history be about to change?
