Jeremy Clarkson isn’t one to hold back. This time, his target is JD Vance, the US Vice-President, who appeared to mock the UK and France’s military efforts. Writing in his Sunday Times column, the former Top Gear presenter called Vance a “twat”, also taking shots at Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Vladimir Putin.
What Did Vance Say?
Speaking to Fox News, Vance downplayed Europe’s role in guaranteeing Ukraine’s security, suggesting that:
“The very best security guarantee is to give Americans economic upside in the future of Ukraine. That is a way better security guarantee than 20,000 troops from some random country that hasn’t fought a war in 30 or 40 years.”
That “random country” dig didn’t go unnoticed—especially since the UK and France are the only nations so far willing to send troops to keep the peace in Ukraine.
Clarkson’s Scathing Response
Clarkson wasn’t having any of it.
“Now, I don’t want to stoop to his level, but I’m going to,” he wrote. “Vance is a bearded God-botherer who pretty much thinks women who’ve been raped should be forced to have the resultant child. I’ve searched for the right word to describe him, and I think it’s ‘twat’.”
He didn’t stop there. Clarkson reminded Vance that British troops have fought and died in wars far more recently than 30 or 40 years ago—often supporting America’s military interventions.
“Our brave young men were being blown to pieces in some godforsaken desert to support whatever madcap scheme the American president had embarked upon that week.”
A History Lesson for Vance
Clarkson also took a swipe at America’s wartime ‘generosity’, pointing out that the UK was still paying off World War II debts to the US until 2006.
And when it comes to Ukraine, he likened Trump’s stance to Roosevelt telling Churchill to let Hitler have Poland.
Trump, Musk, and Putin? “They’re Just Shits”
Clarkson admitted he once liked Trump’s style. Not anymore.
After seeing Trump and Vance gang up on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he’s changed his tune.
“A lot of commentators are saying this is what happens when you hand power to billionaires. Hmm. I know quite a few mega-wealthy people, and mostly they’re kind and normal and philanthropic. But some are just shits. And I suspect that Trump, Musk, and Putin fall into that category.”
