Former Prime Minister Liz Truss has stated that the UK needs a version of Donald Trump. She believes the country requires a leader who can create a movement similar to Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign.
Truss Wants a UK Version of Trump
Speaking at a summit in Delhi, Truss said, “What I am interested in is how we can create a movement like the ‘MAGA’ movement or the Tea Party in the US that led to major changes.”
She added, “Frankly, I think we need a British Trump. The question is, who that individual might be.”
Who Could It Be?
Although she made the statement, Truss didn’t specify who she had in mind. She has previously supported Nigel Farage, suggesting that he should join the Conservative Party, but she didn’t confirm if he was the person she was referring to.
Truss Rules Herself Out
When asked if she might be the “British Trump,” Truss dismissed the idea. Reflecting on her brief time as Prime Minister, she said, “I have already put my fingers in the fire and had them severely burnt. That is the type of approach we need to change Britain.”
A Political Revolution for the UK
Truss believes the UK is headed for a political revolution similar to Trump’s rise in the US. “The Trump revolution we see in the US is coming to Europe,” she said. “Dissatisfaction in countries like France and Germany over economic stagnation is spreading, and major changes are coming to Europe and the UK in the next five to ten years.”
A Growing Trend in Europe
Truss is not alone in recognising the shift in political tides across Europe. As dissatisfaction grows with economic issues and leadership, the demand for strong, transformative leaders could bring about significant political changes. Will a “British Trump” emerge to lead the UK in this new era?
