Elon Musk’s daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, has publicly criticised her father for a controversial post he made on social media about Taylor Swift.
Wilson labelled Musk’s comments as “heinous incel nonsense” after the billionaire responded to Swift’s endorsement of US Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election.
Following a debate between Harris and Donald Trump, Swift announced her support for the Democratic candidate, praising Harris for fighting for causes such as LGBTQ+ rights and women’s reproductive freedom. Swift shared her endorsement on social media, signing off with “childless cat lady” in reference to a remark made by Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance.
Musk, a known supporter of Trump, reacted to Swift’s post with a bizarre message on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.” The comment was widely condemned, with many accusing Musk of being disrespectful and sexist, labelling him a “weird creep” and “disgusting.”
In response, Wilson, Musk’s estranged daughter, took to Instagram Threads to express her disapproval of her father’s words. She wrote: “Heinous incel nonsense is in fact heinous incel nonsense… It’s disgusting, it’s belittling, and incredibly sexist. You deserve better.”
Wilson, who has been estranged from Musk for several years, changed her name in 2022 to distance herself from him, adopting her mother’s maiden name. She has been critical of her father in the past, accusing him of being absent throughout her life and seeking validation from extremist followers. Musk, who has 12 children, has previously claimed that his daughter had been “killed by the woke mind virus.”
The rift between father and daughter has been public for some time, with Wilson continuing to distance herself from Musk’s increasingly controversial public persona.
