Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has launched a fresh criticism of Donald Trump, this time focusing on the former president’s “God Bless The USA” Bibles, which have been revealed to be made in China.
During a rally in Michigan, Walz made light of the fact that Trump, who has often campaigned on a platform of “America First,” outsourced the production of his branded Bibles to China. Walz joked, “Trump had his branded Bibles printed in China. This dude will even outsource God.”
Walz further added, “I don’t blame Trump for not noticing the ‘Made in China’ sticker. They put them on the inside, a part of the Bible that he’s never looked at.”
The remarks followed a report from the Associated Press, which revealed that 120,000 of Trump’s Bibles were shipped from a printing company in Hangzhou earlier this year. The revelation is seen as contradictory to Trump’s tough stance on trade with China.
Walz’s dig at Trump came just a day after former President Barack Obama also mocked Trump’s decision to sell his own version of the Bible alongside singer Lee Greenwood. Obama, referencing Trump’s history of selling merchandise, including gold sneakers and NFTs, questioned, “Who does that?” and pointed out the audacity of having the “Donald Trump edition” of the Bible.
Obama’s criticism of Trump is nothing new. Many have suggested that Obama’s famous 2011 White House Correspondents’ Dinner speech, where he ridiculed Trump’s conspiracy theories, was one of the key moments that spurred Trump to run for office, although Trump himself denies this.
With Trump’s Bibles now under scrutiny for their origin, this incident has added more fuel to the already fiery exchanges between the former president and his political opponents.
