A Glasgow pub owner didn’t hold back when approached by The Sun for comment after right-wing protesters, fresh from a Tommy Robinson-backed rally, attempted to storm the venue. McChuills, a popular pub near George Square, blamed the tabloid for fuelling the hate that led to the attack.
When a reporter from The Sun reached out for a comment, the pub’s response was blunt: “Thanks for reaching out. Please go f*** yourselves.”
The incident occurred as anti-immigration protesters waving Union Jack flags tried to target McChuills, only to be fended off. The pub later took to Instagram, reaffirming its anti-fascist stance and encouraging patrons to stand in solidarity.
In their scathing response to The Sun, McChuills called the rioters “poorly educated and angry bigots” and criticised the paper for spreading “lies and propaganda” that contributed to the unrest. The pub, proudly anti-fascist since 1993, continues to stand as a haven for inclusivity.
