Veteran actor Brian Cox didn’t hold back during his appearance on the BBC’s political panel show with Laura Kuenssberg, where he took aim at Conservative leadership candidate Robert Jenrick. The Succession star, known for his outspoken political views, unleashed a scathing critique of the Tory MP’s stance on immigration and his desire to pull the UK out of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
Cox appeared unimpressed as Kuenssberg questioned Jenrick on how such a move would affect the Good Friday Agreement in Ireland, a peace accord reliant on international law frameworks like the ECHR. Jenrick dismissed these concerns, leading Cox to describe the politician as having “a head full of mince.”
Known for his no-nonsense approach, the Scottish actor criticised the entire Conservative Party, describing them as “ridiculous” for supporting candidates like Jenrick. Cox added that the Tories would be “welcome to him” if they chose him as leader, doubting Jenrick’s ability to address the pressing issue of immigration in a meaningful way.
Jenrick is currently one of two candidates left in the race to replace Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, with the party’s leadership vote set to take place in the coming weeks.
