In his first trip to Kyiv since becoming prime minister, Rishi Sunak met with President Volodymyr Zelensky and committed £50 million in defence assistance to Ukraine.
Being in Kyiv, according to Mr. Sunak, was “deeply humbling,” and the UK will continue to support Ukraine.
Following the meeting, Mr. Zelensky declared that Ukraine and the UK had been the war’s two strongest allies.
Many have made fun of the visit, saying its the ‘new norm’ when a Prime Minister is struggling in the polls or needs to divert attention from a major news story.
