When two of the world’s richest men clash, you know it’s going to be spicy. Bill Gates, the Microsoft co-founder, has taken aim at Elon Musk, accusing him of “destabilising” global politics with his far-right endorsements. And he didn’t mince his words.
‘This Is Insane St’**
In an interview with The Times of London, Gates slammed Musk for meddling in political affairs outside the US. “It’s really insane that he can destabilise the political situations in countries,” Gates said. He suggested that other nations should adopt safeguards to prevent “super-rich foreigners” like Musk from influencing their elections.
Gates was particularly scathing about Musk’s recent comments on Nigel Farage and Germany’s far-right AfD party. “You want to promote the right wing but say Nigel Farage is not right wing enough… I mean, this is insane shit,” Gates said. “You are for the AfD [in Germany].”
Musk’s Political Playground
Musk, who spent over $250 million on Donald Trump’s campaign, has been busy flexing his political muscles globally. He’s criticised UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the Labour Party while advising the right-wing Reform UK party to drop Nigel Farage as leader.
Over the weekend, Musk even addressed Germany’s far-right AfD party remotely, urging them to “take pride in Germany” and not feel guilty for the actions of past generations. Gates dismissed this as “populist stirring,” and it’s safe to say he wasn’t impressed.
Dinner with Trump
Gates also shared details of a recent three-hour dinner with Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago. Despite their differences, Gates described the conversation as “quite engaging.”
“He listened to me talk about HIV and the need to stay generous and to innovate to get a cure,” Gates said. “I talked a lot about polio and energy and nuclear, and he wasn’t dismissive.”
Gates called the encounter “pretty constructive,” which is probably the most diplomatic way to describe a dinner with Trump.
