A former intelligence officer has claimed that Donald Trump was recruited by the Soviet KGB in 1987 and even had a codename—”Krasnov.”
Trump, the Alleged Soviet Asset
Alnur Mussayev, a 71-year-old ex-KGB officer, took to Facebook to drop this bombshell. He claimed he worked in the 6th Directorate of the KGB in Moscow, where his department focused on recruiting Western businessmen as intelligence assets.
According to Mussayev, the future US president was one of them.
“In 1987, I worked in the 6th Department of the KGB in Moscow. Our main task was to recruit spies from capitalist countries. That year, we recruited a 40-year-old businessman from the USA, Donald Trump, codenamed ‘Krasnov’,” he wrote.
Files Removed, Putin Involved?
Mussayev also alleged that Trump’s file was recently removed from Russia’s security agency, the FSB. He claimed it’s now being “privately managed by one of Putin’s close associates.”
However, there’s no hard evidence to back up these claims, and neither Trump nor his team have responded.
Adding to the intrigue, Mussayev hinted at the risks of making such accusations, commenting: “I hope I’ll survive a third assassination attempt.”
Trump’s Soviet Connection
Trump first visited Moscow in 1987 as a real estate developer, shortly after reportedly being courted by Soviet officials. In 1985, the KGB updated its recruitment strategy, advising agents on how to lure influential Westerners.
Coincidence? Mussayev doesn’t think so.
Ex-UK Spy Chief: ‘No Credence’ to the Claims
Not everyone is convinced. Former British intelligence chief Sir David Omand rubbished the theory in an interview with Andrew Marr on LBC.
“No, no. If there were a real smoking gun, it would have surfaced by now. There are enough pro-Ukrainian people in Russia who would have leaked it,” he said.
“I don’t give it any credence. It’s conspiratorial nonsense. And frankly, you don’t even need to be a conspiracy theorist—everything is in plain sight these days.”
So, was Trump really a KGB recruit, or is this just another Cold War conspiracy? Until solid proof emerges, this remains a wild theory with more questions than answers.
