Watch: Jason Isaacs slams Trump on live TV — clip goes viral
"How do you take money away from the entire world, kill millions of people by taking their medicine, and then say, ‘We might give it back in a few months’ — when they’re dead?"
Jason Isaacs may have been on MSNBC’s Morning Joe to talk about The White Lotus — but he couldn’t resist taking a swipe at Donald Trump.
During the February interview, Isaacs made a sharp pivot from TV talk to politics, criticising Trump’s cuts to global aid and attacks on social security. A clip of the exchange has resurfaced this week and is now blowing up on social media.
‘How Do You Transition From That?’
Host Jonathan Lemire had barely introduced Isaacs when the actor pointed out the awkward contrast between serious political issues and light entertainment.

“How do you go from talking about killing people all over the world by taking away their medicine… and then talk about a TV show?”
He then linked Trump’s controversial policies to the themes of The White Lotus, where Isaacs plays ultra-rich businessman Timothy Ratliff.
“Maybe there’s a tie-in because The White Lotus is about rich people being selfish.”
Isaacs Takes Aim at Trump’s Global Aid Cuts
Isaacs didn’t stop there. He tore into Trump’s decision to slash funding for the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
“How do you take money away from the entire world, kill millions of people by taking their medicine, and then say, ‘We might give it back in a few months’ — when they’re dead?”
Isaacs also criticised Trump’s handling of Medicare:

“If you decided Medicare wasn’t working, would you shut down all treatment for every person in America? Or would you try to fix it while it’s still saving lives?”
‘That Wasn’t Part of His Mandate’
Isaacs argued that Trump’s actions weren’t what voters signed up for.
“That wasn’t part of his mandate. I watched most of the campaigning in horror — he never mentioned any of that.”
After the tirade, Isaacs tried to steer things back to The White Lotus:
“Anyway, sorry, we’re talking about a television show…”
Host Lemire responded with a smile:

“We appreciate versatile guests who can do both the news and their show.”
Social Media Blows Up
The clip quickly gained traction online, with fans praising Isaacs for speaking out.
“Jason Isaacs said what we’re all thinking!” one user wrote. Another added: “Finally, someone with a platform telling it like it is.”
